God, I Thirst for You

Posted by on

“God, you are my God; I eagerly seek you.
I thirst for you;
my body faints for you in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water.”
Psalm 63:1 (David in the Wilderness of Judah)
Have you ever seen what the desert does when it comes in contact with water? It immediately soaks it up. It doesn’t matter if it’s one drop or thousands of gallons. The water dissipates in seconds, thirsting for more. In this poem, David is comparing his body to a desert. But instead of water, David thirsts for God. Can you say the same for yourself? Do you thirst for more of God or are you content drinking up the world’s water? Thirst for the one who created the Heavens and Earth. Thirst for the one who offers everlasting life. You see, the world’s water doesn’t fulfill. It never will. God’s water always does.
God, I thirst for you. God, I thirst for you. God, I thirst for you.
