"So, what are you going to do with your life?"

Posted by on

Summer is coming to a close.
For many of you, school is BACK. And whether it’s your first year of high school or your last year of college, that can seem daunting.
Literally everyone: “So... what are you going to do with your life?”
Literally no one: “I know exactly what I want to do and here is the path to do that.”
And although everyone around you is telling you that it’s okay to be in the position you’re in, something inside of you says it’s not. Maybe that same voice nags at you saying “Hey... you’re not really good at anything. You’re not meant for anything great”.
I know I heard that voice everyday. I felt like I was good at a lot of things but not great at anything.
When I got to college, I shifted my focus from my passions to my wants (or at least what I thought were my wants). My goal was to graduate as fast possible, get married, get a steady job, and make money so that I could be happy. EXCEPT when I actually accomplished all of those things, I felt miserable (marrying Jordan was the the exception to this). You see... I had spent so much time trying to check my own boxes, that I completely ignored God trying to show me my passions along the way. I finally put all my trust in God in the form of me quitting my job with very little in the bank and a new wife to take care of. Once I finally stretched myself, and put all my trust in Him, God revealed to me some untapped passions (AKA @ragamuffinco).
My prayer for you is this, be okay with not knowing what you want to do right now. I’m still figuring it out as I go too. Everyone is. The people who are most content are the ones who trust in God’s plan over their own. I can guarantee that His plan is infinitely better than anything you can come up with. And please always remember, what you do does not define who you are. You are a child of the creator of the universe. Rest in that. I’m so stoked for you all this year ❤️
